This is one of two chapters from Present Tense that I’ll be releasing for free. I must admit that for me this year’s Triple S Invitational, held at Real Watersports in Cape Hatteras, NC was one of the most hectic, insane and above all FUN weeks I’ve ever had. The conditions were all over the place; one day we would barely have enough wind to put a kite in the air and the next everyone would barely be hanging onto their 7’s. The wind blew so hard the evening of the John Wayne Sunset Session that Pamlico sound rose just enough to cover the point I was shooting from with water. No big deal, until you forget you’re standing on a 4 foot drop off with a cell phone in your pocket. Needless to say after the session I was in need of a dry change of clothes and a new cell phone. Small price to pay for the images I captured that evening.

Above all I think Triple S 2010 will be remembered as a week of extremes. Everything from yacht week, to the conditions, to the riding, to the music and definitely to the insane-o, next level parties, people were just strait taking it to the next level. Whether it was a 7AM sunrise surf session (with most riders having partied strait through the night and into the AM Hatteras surf) or Sam Bell getting motivating for a nuked out evening slider session on a 7, if you weren’t there you missed out.

The good news though? CDM was onsite and rolling in HD 24/7, and whether you’re trying to get a glimpse of what goes down at Triple S or just trying to jog your memory from an insane week on the banks, you’ll find all the hits, misses and good times from Hatteras to the Gorge in Present Tense.
